Pocket Gamer today says goodbye to esteemed former Editor Mark Brown, who's vacating his latest position as Editor at Large to dedicate more time to his YouTube channel, Game Maker's Toolkit.

Mark joined Pocket Gamer almost seven years ago as News Editor, but proved incompetent due to a severe addiction to the TV show Lost. Ultimately, it cost him the role.

His written ability was without question though, and he regularly contributed freelance features before being formally instated as Features Editor.

With his help, traffic on PG skyrocketed - so much so that his talents could be quelled no longer, and he was made Editor.

The rest, as they say, is history. Mark is without doubt the finest Editor Pocket Gamer has ever seen, and was instrumental in making it the mobile gaming super power it is today.

All of us at Pocket Gamer would like to thank Mark profusely for his enormous contribution to the site, and wish him the very best of luck with all of his future endeavours.

But he's not getting off that easily. You can expect to see Mark's name continue to pop up regularly with a freelance feature or review here and there.

Glen Fox - EditorThose are some damn big shoes to fill, aren't they?

That being said, it's not an entirely fair competition as Mark is, in fact, an AI born inside the internet.

After inspiring Shigeru Miyamoto to create a bunch of well-loved Nintendo franchises, he grew tired of his digital existence so 3D printed a synthetic body and said "hi, I'm Mark Brown" over and over again until Pocket Gamer took pity on him.

Mark doesn't visualise video games in the same manner that we do either. It's just code to him - similar to how Neo sees the Matrix. That's the real secret behind the enormous success of Game Maker's Toolkit.

On a serious note, I will miss Mark as a colleague and mentor a lot. I owe everything I've learned to the man, the myth, and the legend, and Pocket Gamer will never be the same without him.

But this isn't goodbye as I will continue to pester Mark on a daily basis in the mantle of his bestest friend ever!Emily Sowden - News Editor

I wish I knew Mr. Mark Brown more than I did so that my words for him had a bit more depth, but I'll say undoubtedly that he's a top-class fella.

He's always open for helping you out and was friendly from the get-go when I joined back in June. I don't think I need to mention his hilariously random sense of humour.

Ever the professional, ever knowledgeable, and always hard working, he'll certainly be a missed presence at PG.
Jon Mundy - Features Editor
As a fellow PG old timer, I've ended up working with Mark in a variety of guises over the years. Whichever hat he's been wearing, though, he's always been the same Mark - sharp, funny, and authoritative.
His unique voice will be missed on the site.

See them all dancing around below.

Aren't they wonderful?

You can play Spinnner solo or, if someone else has an iPhone nearby, you can compete against each other.

You can also see how you square up in the leaderboards.

I remember being a kid and spinning around on the spot, laughing as I fell over. I haven't done that for a while, but this morning, due to playing Spinnner, I did. For a moment there I became a kidult.

Spinnner is apparently aimed at 9 to 11 year olds, but anyone can play it and, most likely, enjoy it - especially if you have kids of your own to share it with.

You can purchase it for 79p / 99c on the App Store.

And so much less of shame in me remains
The way you StreetPass with your Nintendo 3DS is getting some slight changes with a free update.

You can now add StreetPass games you don't want to play to the Vault and change what kind of word balloon gets displayed with your greeting.

If you dish out $5 for the paid update, you'll be able to shorten or skip Mii conversations altogether.

Options for tweaking the length of conversations includes skipping birthdays, StreetPass total, recently played titles, title introductions, and personal info.

The paid version will also let you collect birthdays from StreetPasses and assign VIP status to certain Miis.

A THRUSH was feeding on a myrtle-tree and did not move from it because its berries were so delicious. A Fowler observed her staying so long in one spot, and having well bird-limed his reeds, caught her. The Thrush, being at the point of death, exclaimed, "O foolish creature that I am! For the sake of a little pleasant food I have deprived myself of my life."

Lilith Games and Cotton Games have announced that their next game, Mr Pumpkin 2 Walls of Kowloon, will be heading for both iOS and Android devices on 24th April. It's a point-and-click adventure game that follows the titular protagonist Mr Pumpkin as he explores Kowloon's Walled City.

He'll make his way through the city using a mixture of cable cars, buses and tramways. Along the way, he'll meet with various citizens and learn their own individual stories of survival whilst he tries to find a way to escape the Walled City. The game's narrative is also told episodically so you can expect the odd cliffhanger to keep things interesting.

To escape the city players will be faced with a variety of puzzles and mysteries they'll need to solve that will lead to the ultimate goal of breaking the code of the Dragon Gate, which prevents him from leaving. It'll play out as you'd expect from a point-and-click game then, with plenty of Easter eggs and other secrets to uncover for those that explore thoroughly.

It aims to pay homage to 90's Asian films with its aesthetic and soundtrack, so fans of that kind of cinema are sure to find some nostalgia in Mr Pumpkin 2. Of course, if you're a fan of both the game's genre and inspiration, you'll get a doubly nostalgic hit, which is always nice.

It certainly has a unique hand-drawn art style that I've not seen too often – apart from in the game's predecessor, naturally – that definitely works in its favour. It won't have any problems standing out in the various storefronts, so if it delivers with its puzzles and story we could be on to a winner.

Mr Pumpkin 2 Walls of Kowloon is available to pre-order now over on both the App Store and Google Play ahead of its release on 24th April. It will be a premium title that costs $1.99.
Enjoy point-and-click adventure games? Here are 26 of the best
